That poor girl. She must be so lonely. But that is exactly why my daughter, who is 11, does not currently have an e-mail or get unsupervised internet time. At that age, kids don't always understand the dangers of putting that kind of info out there. They think they're just being friendly.

And in the effort of full disclosure, I've been to the "secret blog" and posted there a few times as karlie, but you may already know that. I was feeling kinda internet stalker-ish. With a dual personality.

good thinking, Jen.. I'm going to write her back and somehow tell her it's probably not smart to give out her info... but I have to think of how to say it. And then give her a big internet hug b/c my heart breaks for her...

According to my husband I have more than 2 personalities but "officially" I have two...

It is great that you will reach out to this young girl and she is lucky to have made the grave error of sharing that information with someone that has her best interest at heart... and someone also who all too well understands the pain that no young girl should have to endure. Perhaps it is no mistake that she found her way to you....

I've been to the secrety blog too...and I LOVE it! My SILs and I send each other the secrety blog content almost everyday ala: "Did you see this?! How awesome! I know, and did you see THIS?!" You know, basically revert to our 13 year old selves (FYI, we're 28 and 30). Keep it up ladies. All this to say, I don't know you but found your IRL blog through Lauren's (and it's pretty great too I might add). I agree with Laura...it was probably no accident at all that the girl's letter ended up in your inbox.

No 12 year old...or 17 year old...or 24 year old...or 34 year old should have to go through that. I'm so sorry.
